COURSE DESCRIPTION
OVERVIEW
Medical Affairs teams often live in the “purgatory” between R&D and Commercial organizations within life sciences firms. This presents several challenges, not the least of which is finding a proper metric to measure performance success, or even benchmark/define what “success” looks like. The “Key Performance Indicators” or “KPIs” are a reliable way to evaluate achievement, but more work needs to be done to tie that data to actual organizational impact.
This session will describe how to best position goals, KPIs, and other available metrics to paint a picture of impact. Additionally, we will cover the steps necessary to ensure progress is continually monitored, while allowing for process “tweaks” along the way. As part of your registration, a Medical Affairs KPI Identification Worksheet will be provided and reviewed.

The evolution of the MAL teams’ KPIs requires continuous review of the performance measurement methods to maintain relevance within the regulatory framework and providing the expected impact to the organizational profitability. Thus the agile adaptation techniques have to be incorporated in the market surveillance for product attributes that give a competitive edge to be the basis of the company drug development strategy through clinical trials to ensure you offer a product or service that fills the gap in the market. This market oriented approach in the MAL department objectives will reduce marketing costs and subsequently increase prioritization of the product and services by the KOLs, HCPs and the patients resulting in successful MAL teams.
